Bulls Add Sharpshooter Buddy Hield in Trade Sending Rob Dillingham to Charlotte

The Chicago Bulls have traded guard Rob Dillingham to the Charlotte Hornets for veteran shooter Buddy Hield and cash considerations. Both teams confirmed the deal Sunday morning, and the Bulls announced Hield will wear No. 7.

It is the second time in a week Hield has been traded. Charlotte acquired him from Atlanta days earlier in the deal involving Dorian Finney-Smith. Hield, entering his 11th NBA season, will now be playing for his seventh team.

Hield is a career 39.5% three-point shooter. He is set to earn about $9.7 million this season, roughly $2.8 million more than Dillingham, and the cash in the deal helps cover that difference.

Dillingham, 21, was the No. 8 pick in the 2024 draft and joined the Bulls at last February's trade deadline in the deal that sent Ayo Dosunmu to Minnesota. He appeared in 30 games for Chicago. For the Bulls, Hield's shooting is expected to help create space for young forwards Matas Buzelis and Caleb Wilson.
