Chicago early voting sites open in all 50 wards through Nov. 2

Chicago voters can use any ward early voting center, regardless of their home address, with seven-day availability through Nov. 2. Two downtown options also serve city voters, while suburban Cook County residents have a separate downtown voting location at the county clerk’s office.

Chicago residents looking to vote before Election Day have options throughout the city. Early voting centers are operating in all 50 wards, with voting available seven days a week through Monday, Nov. 2, according to the Chicago Board of Elections.
City voters do not have to use the early voting center in the ward where they live. Any eligible Chicago voter can cast a ballot at any of the city’s ward locations, regardless of their registered address. That flexibility allows residents to choose a location that fits their daily schedule rather than limiting their search to their own neighborhood.
There are also two downtown options for Chicago voters. The Downtown Voting Supersite is at 137 S. State St. A second location is at the Chicago Board of Elections office, on the sixth floor of 69 W. Washington St. Both are available to city residents as alternatives to the ward centers.
Suburban Cook County voters have a separate set of early voting locations. Those who live outside Chicago can vote downtown at the Cook County Clerk’s Office, also at 69 W. Washington St., but on the pedway rather than the sixth floor. Early voting for suburban Cook County residents continues through Monday, Nov. 2.
The distinction at the Washington Street building is useful when planning a visit: the sixth-floor election office serves Chicago voters, while the county clerk’s pedway location serves Cook County voters who live outside the city. Sharing a street address does not make the two voting operations interchangeable.
For residents considering other sites, the Chicago Board of Elections provides the full city location list, and the Cook County Clerk provides information about suburban polling places. The notes do not include individual sites’ daily opening and closing times, so voters should consult the appropriate election office’s location information when choosing where to go.
