Five Chicago Cubs players are finalists for Gold Glove awards, putting the team's defensive work in the spotlight ahead of the Nov. 1 announcement of winners. Pete Crow-Armstrong, Alex Bregman, Ian Happ, Dansby Swanson and Seiya Suzuki are each in contention at their positions.

Crow-Armstrong is seeking his second straight Gold Glove in center field. According to FanGraphs figures cited in the announcement coverage, he led Major League Baseball with 25 outs above average this season. His 16 defensive runs saved placed him third among major league center fielders. The other finalists at the position are Andy Pages of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Michael Harris II of the Atlanta Braves.

At third base, Bregman has a chance to add another Gold Glove to his career accomplishments. He finished with 15 defensive runs saved, the highest total among major league third basemen, according to FanGraphs. His fellow finalists are the Dodgers' Max Muncy and Javier Sanoja of the Miami Marlins.

Happ is pursuing his fifth Gold Glove in left field. He joins a finalist group that includes Jackson Chourio of the Milwaukee Brewers and Daylen Lile of the Washington Nationals. Swanson, meanwhile, is seeking his third career award at shortstop, where the other contenders are Masyn Winn of the St. Louis Cardinals and Geraldo Perdomo of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Suzuki could become a first-time Gold Glove winner in right field. He recorded 14 defensive runs saved this season, leading all major league right fielders. Carson Benge of the New York Mets and Corbin Carroll of the Diamondbacks are also finalists for that award.

For Chicago fans, the selections recognize defensive contributions across much of the Cubs' lineup, including every outfield position. The Nov. 1 results will determine whether the team's returning award winners add to their collections and whether Suzuki earns his first honor.
