Three Chicago resale shops have landed on Yelp’s national list of frequently saved secondhand shopping destinations. Knee Deep Vintage, Kokorokoko and Shangri-La Vintage all made the 25-business list, highlighting local options for shoppers interested in clothing and accessories from earlier decades.
The list covers businesses in Yelp’s flea market, thrift, antique, used, vintage and consignment categories. Placement takes into account both all-time user saves and review ratings, with no more than five businesses included from any one state. That makes it a measure of interest and customer feedback on Yelp, rather than a ranking based on saves alone.
Chicago’s highest placement went to Knee Deep Vintage, which ranked seventh. The shop is at 1219 W. 19th St. in Pilsen. In the figures reported with the list, it had a 4.3-star rating from 152 reviews. Customers highlighted its pricing, merchandise selection, roomy fitting area and staff, details that may help shoppers deciding where to browse.
Kokorokoko placed 16th nationally. Located at 1323 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Wicker Park, the store focuses on clothing and accessories associated with the 1980s and 1990s. Its reported Yelp rating was four stars across 84 reviews, and its particular focus gives shoppers a clear sense of the eras they can expect to find represented.
The third Chicago business, Shangri-La Vintage, is at 1952 W. Roscoe St. in Roscoe Village. It has been open since 1992 and carried a reported 4.6-star rating from 66 reviews. The store describes its selection as spanning the 1950s through the 1990s, with pieces from earlier periods sometimes available.
Yelp also reported increased searches for services that alter, restore or repair vintage purchases, including clothing, furniture and bridal items. For Chicago readers interested in secondhand shopping, the three local entries offer specific starting points, with addresses and differing vintage specialties to help plan a visit.
